All stages of the process are exciting to me. However, the production stage is the most hands on and what many of us look forward to jumping into. During the production stage, a producer is responsible for the details of the actual recording. The idea here is that the producer is building all of the elements leading to the final recording. Those elements include:
1. tracking
2. overdubs - adding to the original recording vocals
3. background vocals
4. strings, horns, and other instrumentation
5. documentation and organization for the mix
6. noting the types of processors needed
7. noting the number of tracks needed
8. mixing the various elements and then completing a rough mix
